The Check Offender Program

diverts first time bad check writers out of the court system and gives them the opportunity to make restitution to merchants. This program returns thousands of dollars to area merchants yearly, allows police and sheriff offices to use their resources to investigate more serious crimes, it returns money to merchants faster and keeps the court dockets shorter to handle more serious cases.

The Check Offender Program Brochure gives additional information on using the Check Offender Program.

The Drug Diversion Program - Addiction Services

objective is clear, either get help and treatment or go to jail. This program is for first time drug users who can enroll in a diversion program of education, counseling and random drug testing under supervision and at their expense or be confined to jail. This program is another approach to the drug problem in Des Moines County, we not only work at arresting drug dealers, we are working to reduce the demand for drugs so dealers will have to go elsewhere to sell drugs.
